Clear information about student rights, institutional responsibilities, complaint procedures, and the resources available to students in our distance education programs.

Our commitment to students. Maalot College is committed to providing a supportive educational experience and communicating institutional policies clearly. Students are encouraged to raise questions or concerns promptly. The College will review concerns fairly and without retaliation for making a good-faith complaint.

1. Our Commitment and Student Rights

Maalot College seeks to maintain accurate, accessible, and current information about its programs, costs, policies, and student services. Students should review the current Academic Catalog and applicable policies before enrolling and throughout their studies.

Students may ask questions, raise concerns, and submit complaints in accordance with the procedures below. The College prohibits retaliation against a student for submitting a complaint in good faith or participating in a complaint review.

Nothing on this page limits a student’s right to contact an appropriate state or federal agency, accrediting organization, or other authority. External agencies have different jurisdictions and may require students to complete institutional procedures first.

2. How to Resolve a Concern with Maalot College

Students are encouraged to begin with the person or department most directly involved, when appropriate. If the concern is not resolved informally, a student may use the College’s formal grievance procedure.

Submitting a formal complaint

  1. Review the Student Grievance Policy and obtain the current grievance form.
  2. Describe the concern, relevant dates, individuals involved, and steps already taken.
  3. Include supporting documents and explain the resolution requested.
  4. Submit the complaint to the designated complaint contact below.
 Institutional Complaint Contact

Contact: Maalot College – Attention Academic Compliance Officer
Mail:

Phoenix, AZ 85014
The College will acknowledge receipt, review the information, request clarification when necessary, and provide a written outcome. The acknowledgment and decision timeframes, appeal process, recordkeeping, and any exceptions must be stated in the published Student Grievance Policy.

Where a complaint concerns the person who would ordinarily review it, the complaint will be referred to an uninvolved senior administrator or independent reviewer designated by the College. A person named in a complaint will not be the sole decision-maker on that complaint.

Filing deadlines: Students should submit concerns promptly. The applicable institutional filing period and any exceptions for delayed discovery, continuing conduct, or circumstances beyond a student’s control are governed by the current Student Grievance Policy. Institutional deadlines do not eliminate any separate right to contact an external agency within that agency’s deadline.

3. Arizona State Oversight and Student Complaints

Maalot College is located in Arizona. Students may have the right to submit a complaint to the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education, subject to the Board’s jurisdiction, procedures, and eligibility requirements.

4. State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) Student Complaints

Important status disclosure: Maalot College has applied for SARA participation; approval has not yet been granted.

For an institution approved to participate in SARA, an eligible student located outside the institution’s home state may have access to the SARA complaint process for complaints within SARA’s scope. SARA generally requires the student to complete the institution’s complaint process before escalating a qualifying complaint to the institution’s home-state SARA State Portal Entity.

SARA does not cover every type of complaint. For example, complaints about grades or student conduct are generally not within SARA’s scope unless they involve an applicable SARA policy issue. The relevant state portal entity determines whether a complaint falls within its authority.

5. Accreditation-Related Complaints

Maalot College is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). Students may submit a complaint to DEAC when they believe an institution may not be meeting DEAC’s accreditation standards or policies and the matter is within DEAC’s authority.

Students should ordinarily use the College’s internal complaint process first. DEAC does not act as an appeal body for every individual academic, disciplinary, or administrative decision. Students should read DEAC’s current complaint instructions to determine whether their concern is eligible.

6. U.S. Department of Education and Federal Resources

The U.S. Department of Education is not a general appeal body for all institutional complaints. Depending on the subject, students may contact the appropriate federal office or program.

Office for Civil Rights (OCR)

Students who believe they have experienced discrimination prohibited by federal civil rights laws administered by OCR may review the filing requirements and submit a complaint through the Office for Civil Rights complaint process.

Federal Student Aid

For concerns involving federal student aid, loan servicing, or participation in federal student aid programs, students may use the Federal Student Aid Feedback Center where applicable.

Federal offices have specific jurisdictional requirements and filing deadlines. Students should review those requirements directly.

7. Distance Education and Student Disclosures

Students enrolling in distance education should have access to clear information about the program, academic requirements, technology requirements, tuition and fees, refund and cancellation terms, student services, and institutional complaint procedures.

  • Program and academic information: Review the current Academic Catalog for program descriptions, course requirements, academic policies, and applicable completion requirements.
  • Tuition, fees, cancellation, and refunds: Review the current catalog and published Refund and Cancellation Policy before enrolling.
  • Technology requirements: Review the College’s current technology requirements and ensure that you have reliable internet access and the required hardware and software.
  • Student support: Contact the College for information about academic assistance, administrative support, and access to student records.
  • Professional licensure: If a program is intended to meet educational requirements for a professional license or certification, students should review the program’s current disclosures and verify requirements with the applicable licensing board in the state where they intend to seek licensure.

State authorization and SARA participation do not guarantee that a program meets professional licensure requirements in every state. Students are responsible for reviewing applicable state requirements, and the College should provide program-specific disclosures as required.

8. Accessibility and Accommodations

Maalot College is committed to providing students with an opportunity to request reasonable accommodations and to access the College’s educational services. Students who need an accommodation should contact the College using the contact information below and provide sufficient information to begin an interactive review.

Accommodation requests are considered individually in accordance with applicable law and the College’s Accessibility and Accommodation Policy. Students may raise concerns about accessibility through the institutional complaint process.

Student education records are maintained and disclosed in accordance with applicable privacy requirements, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), where applicable. Students may consult the Academic Catalog and the College’s privacy or student records policy for information about access to and disclosure of education records.

Complaint information is shared only with individuals who need it to review, investigate, respond to, or otherwise administer the complaint, subject to applicable law and institutional policy. Students should avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information in an initial email.

Maalot College prohibits retaliation against students for raising concerns in good faith or participating in a complaint review.
